COLLINGWOOD coach Nathan Buckley has been forced to name two rookies in his squad set to take on North Melbourne on Sunday.

Rookies Sam Dwyer and Jack Frost are on the extended bench along with Josh Thomas, Paul Seedsman, Marty Clarke and former Carlton fringe player Jordan Russell.

The Magpies injury list includes star playmaker Dale Thomas (ankle), Andrew Krakouer, Alex Fasolo and Luke Ball.

Former West Coast Eagle Quinten Lynch has been named at half forward while Tyson Goldsack looks to have overcome his ankle injury and will play out of the goalsquare.

NORTH Melbourne has opted for No.1 ruckman Todd Goldstein ahead of Daniel Currie and Majak Daw.

But excitement machine Daw, the league's first Sudanese-born player, has been named on the extended bench.

Ben Jacobs will make his debut for the Kangaroos after moving to Arden St from Port Adelaide in the pre-season draft.

WESTERN Bulldogs midfielder Adam Cooney has shrugged off a knee infection and will play against Brisbane on Saturday at Etihad Stadium.

The Brownlow medallist, who was hospitalised during the week, has been named in the midfield alongside recruits Koby Stevens and Nick Lower.

The Bulldogs will be without captain Matthew Boyd (knee).

GREATER Western Sydney No.1 pick Lachie Whitfield will make his debut against Sydney in Saturday's Battle of the Bridge.

Meanwhile, the Swans have named Shane Mumford in the ruck ending speculation of an injury concern.

As expected, rookie Dane Rampe comes into the side replacing Alex Johnson (knee) across half back.

GOLD Coast will unveil big-bodied midfielder Jaeger O'Meara against St Kilda on Saturday.

ST KILDA has left Justin Koschitzke out of its team to play Gold Coast on Saturday.

Instead, opting for Beau Maister. Rhys Stanley and Aaron Siposs in the forward line alongside Nick Riewoldt and smalls Stephen Milne and Terry Milera.

MELBOURNE will unleash father-son draft gun Jack Viney against Port Adelaide on Sunday

The Dees said today Viney, picked up under the father-son rule in last year's national draft, would play alongside the club's top draft pick Jimmy Toumpas.

Mature-age draftee Matt Jones will also be part of the Demons' team when it is named tonight.

Jones, 25, played suburban football in Melbourne and Queensland before impressing with the Box Hill Hawks in the VFL last season. He was given an AFL lifeline by the Demons with pick 52 in the draft.

The Demons will play seven club debutants against the Power, with former Cats Shannon Byrnes and Tom Gillies to join ex-Kangaroo Cam Pederson and former Port Adelaide midfielder David Rodan in the Dees' line-up.

Chris Dawes hasn't recovered from a calf injury in time and won't play.

It appears mature-age South Australian recruit Dean Terlich has also missed the cut.
